The self priming pump operates by the movement of the impeller; Jet pumps operate on similar or dissimilar media, and the pump itself has no relative moving parts. Self priming pumps are most commonly seen pumps that generate negative pressure at the water inlet to absorb water.
The jet pump uses the negative pressure generated by the jet fluid to absorb water, and it requires high-speed water injection to generate negative pressure on the side. Jet pump is also a type of self priming pump. Any pump with self priming function can be called a self priming pump, which includes self priming vortex pump, self priming centrifugal pump, self priming jet pump, etc.
Precautions for using jet pumps:
The flow rate of a jet pump is linearly related to its speed. Compared to a low speed jet pump, a high speed jet pump increases its flow rate and head, but its power significantly increases. High speed accelerates the wear between the rotor and stator, which inevitably leads to premature failure of the jet pump. Moreover, the length of the stator and rotor of a high speed jet pump is very short, making it prone to wear and tear, thus shortening the service life of the jet pump.
By using a deceleration mechanism or a stepless speed regulation mechanism to reduce the speed and maintain it within a reasonable range of less than 300 revolutions per minute, the service life can be extended several times compared to high-speed jet pumps.
